Salutations

Here you will discover my eclectic skills in writing and editing for diverse media, as well as communications project development and management, from simple press releases to complex poster creation and distribution to (as you are reading now) Web content. Just click on the links to read my collection of writing samples (in PDF format) and find out just what you’ve been missing!

First Things First

Using the first link, please e-mail me for an up-to-date copy of my resume. On it you will find my work history inside and outside communications, my extensive education and professional references. The second document is my freelance client list and the projects I have done for them. I also created the letterhead.

Hearye! Hearye! Read All About It!

This collection concerns press releases and media advisories. The releases included text drafting, letterhead design, distribution list creation from scratch and the actual “snail mail” distribution. I created the media advisory while employed as a full-time writer for a Tucson-based international Nonprofit.

What's Goin' On

These samples represent two different approaches I’ve used in newsletter development. The first I was only tasked with text drafting/editing. For the other two the client provided the rough text, which I edited and used to create the final products with MS Publisher.

My Babies

My favorite project at the Nonprofit. Starting off as a single set, it grew into a four-year, ongoing effort that profiled some 60 different wildlife conservation projects from around the world. I identified the projects, contacted and acquired relevant data and (if possible) imagery, wordsmithed the poster text, worked with the graphics gurus to create a meaningful presentation and submitted the drafts for final approval before farming them out for printing. In fact, the nonprofit’s museum still uses them to decorate its walls!

A Haunting

Here are a couple examples of my ghostwriting. Both are appeal letters for one of the Nonprofit’s Annual Reports. Other ghostwriting I have done include op-eds, speeches, articles and official statements.

Action!

What better way to reach the masses than through mass media? To that end I’ve also been tasked with writing promos and scripts for radio, television and even phone correspondence. Here are a couple examples:

The following examples are text treatments for a series of public service ads that sadly ended up getting axed due to budget cuts. Still, as any PSA or other ad copy should be they are terse, but emotive and compelling.

Speaking of Ads...

Ah, the meat and potatoes of every working copywriter! What writing portfolio would be complete without examples examples of product “blurbs” and an advertorials? These I wrote for a previous employer awhile back.

To round off the portfolio, I am including my work from across the Internet to reveal my skills in writing longer, more in-depth pieces.
